” When your job involves inspecting some of the most beautiful hotels in the world, it’s hard not to fall in love along the way. But Paradis Beachcomber in Mauritius? That was something special.

This time, it wasn’t just me visiting as part of our Travel with Meon team, my 11-year-old daughter, Izzy, came along as an official Junior Hotel Inspector. And let’s just say… she took her job very seriously (with a little help from beach walks and dessert tastings, of course!).

The moment we arrived, Paradis Beachcomber lived up to its name. We stepped into a tropical dreamscape of palm trees, soft golden sand, and the majestic Le Morne mountain standing proudly in the background. Our room opened straight onto the beach and just as we arrived, the sun dipped below the horizon, setting the sky ablaze in colours that honestly looked painted. It was pure magic.

Izzy’s verdict?
“It looks like the sky’s on fire, but in the best way!” high praise from a junior inspector.

One of the biggest highlights of Paradis Beachcomber is how beautifully it balances luxury with a warm, family-friendly vibe. Whether you’re travelling with kids, teens, or as a couple looking to reconnect, this resort has something for everyone and it never feels crowded or chaotic.

• Spacious beachfront rooms with that dreamy island-chic style, perfect for early morning coffees or sandy-toed returns after a splash in the sea.

• Water sports galore: We spotted snorkelers, paddle boarders, and even glass-bottom boats cruising by. (Izzy is already planning her return for a go on the stand-up paddle board!)

• Dining that delights: From fresh Mauritian flavours to international classics and brilliant kids’ options. Izzy is still talking about the chocolate forest sundae.

• A kids’ club that gets it right: Think treasure hunts, creative crafts, and meeting new friends from around the world.

• And for the grown-ups: The golf course and spa are absolutely top-tier. 

Travelling with an 11-year-old brings a whole new perspective to hotel inspections. Izzy was all eyes and ears, checking out the little details – from how comfy the beds were to whether the staff remembered her name (they did – and she loved it).
