5* Kasbah Tamadot ~ Morocco

Magical | private Location | Infinity pool

Atlas Mountains await

Days are spent unwinding in the heated infinity pool or being pampered in the spa or hammam. Evenings are the reserve of the ‘Kanoun’ restaurant, which combines local and international flavours expertly, featuring homegrown herbs and vegetables from the resort’s gardens. Don’t miss out on the opportunity to see a classic movie with their tranquil outdoor cinema.

A very special part of this hotel is The Eve Branson Foundation, a foundation that Richard’s mum started. Her involvement in the local community has been nothing short of spectacular, and she’s had such a profound effect on the villagers by creating a Foundation that presents much-needed opportunities to all those involved.

To start at the very beginning, Eve is actually the reason that Kasbah Tamadot is even in the collection. Whilst Richard was in Morocco preparing for a hot-air balloon challenge, Eve and his father Ted went off exploring and found the beautiful Kasbah. They both fell in love with it and told Richard they would not speak to him again if he didn’t buy it! Richard agreed to buy the Kasbah and Eve was able to put in place a plan to help the local Berber people living in the more remote surrounding villages. Safe to say she grasped the challenge with both hands and heart, and that was how the Eve Branson Foundation (EBF) was born. The inquisitive nature of Eve had her setting off to discover the ongoing of the local villages and that’s where she discovered that the girls of the high Atlas Mountains had no place to work and so decided to build her own craft house for the girls to be taught how to make things to be sold. Teaching them new skills and helping them to create their own income.

This is a property that will sit deep rooted with you after your visit.

Why we love this !

“This is possibly one of my favourite hotels I’ve ever been to. You are totally encompassed into the authenticity of Morocco as soon as you arrive. I was blown away by the incredible views of North Africa’s highest peak, Mount Toubkal and the traditional Berber villages that surrounded us. I truly felt like I was in my very own Moroccan home with all the comforts, being treated like royalty with exceptional service from the local staff. Everywhere i turned, there were traditional furnishings with antiques from around the world that had incredible stories behind them.
Aside from the beauty of this property, I love all they do for the locals and surrounding villages. The Eve Branson Foundation is an incredible foundation that was started by Richard’s mum to help the locals with day-to-day life and their futures.
I can’t wait to return to this stunning property. I recommend a stay in a ‘Berber Tent’ for a 5-star foothills experience in total serenity. ” ~ Karen Beagrie

The Hammam is based on the weekly Moroccan cleansing ritual which will give you a deep cleanse, purify and soften the skin. Black soap is applied to cleanse the skin followed by an exfoliation of the whole body with a mitt. Whilst the mask is applied to the body, your hair will be shampooed and conditioned and scalp massaged. The end result is rejuvenated, awakened skin and your mind and body will be totally relaxed. A definite must if you’re visiting Kasbah Tamadot!

  • Eve Branson Foundation : The Eve Branson Foundation (EBF) was spearheaded by Richard’s mum and has been helping those in the Berber communities surrounding Kasbah Tamadot since 2005. The aim is to offer long-term support by setting up sustainable initiatives such as artisanal training programmes in woodwork, embroidery, weaving and a dedicated craft shop, all managed by Amazigh (Berber) people. Working closely with EBF, they also regularly arrange visits to the local craft houses in the neighbouring Berber villages so you can see the foundation’s work first hand. You can purchase a selection of these handmade items in the Berber Boutique.
