“James and I have just returned from a few glorious days at Ikos Porto Petro – and I couldn’t wait to share a little peek behind the scenes of this standout Ikos resort. If you’re dreaming of that perfect blend of luxury, freedom, and stunning natural surroundings, read on.
Let me start by saying Ikos Porto Petro is big. It’s one of the larger Ikos resorts we’ve stayed at, beautifully spread across 60 acres with low-rise buildings, three separate beaches, and multiple pool areas. It’s got a slightly more “grown-up” vibe compared to some of the smaller Ikos properties, and that extra space gives it a resort feel with plenty going on, ideal if you’re travelling with extended family or looking for more variety in your holiday.
We loved hopping between the Beach Club Pool, Deluxe Pool, and the peaceful Adults-Only Central Pool – and the Ikos Spa by Anne Semonin Paris? Divine. Two complimentary massages if you’re staying in a Deluxe Suite – yes, please!
The rooms? Stylish and calming, with everything you expect from Ikos: espresso machines, stocked minibars, and gorgeous views of either lush gardens or the Mediterranean Sea. We stayed in a Deluxe One Bedroom Suite, which gave us access to a quieter area of the resort with an exclusive pool and elevated service, totally worth it if you’re after a more boutique experience within a larger resort.
Dining was exceptional, as always – Michelin-starred menus and international flavours, from elegant Italian at Fresco to the newly opened Market restaurant with live cooking stations. All included, of course. The sommelier-curated wine list is next-level – 300+ labels, all complimentary.
One of our favourite highlights? The Local Drive Adventure. Ikos guests can borrow a Tesla for the day – completely free – and explore the island. We drove down to Palma, which is only 50 minutes away, and spent the day shopping, strolling, and enjoying a seafood lunch by the marina. Honestly, don’t miss this if you’re visiting. Mallorca is stunning and so easy to navigate by car.
A quick word for those travelling with little ones – while Porto Petro has brilliant kids’ facilities (Ofsted-standard childcare, a beachside nanny service, and so much entertainment), it is a more spread-out resort. For younger families, I might recommend Ikos Olivia instead, it’s flatter, more compact, and easier to get around with toddlers and buggies. At Porto Petro, we often hopped on the buggies, but walking from one end to the other is definitely a bit of a trek!
