Leading Hotels Of The World
A member of the Leading Hotels of The World… Elounda Beach Hotel and Villas is the ultimate hideaway in a unique waterfront location.
A picturesque, cobble-paved, whitewashed resort that offers two private beaches, an outdoor pool that is surrounded by stunning gardens and olive trees, seven restaurants, with an impressive array of accommodation to suit all – ideal for family getaways or private, intimate retreats.
Perfectly sat on the north-wester coast of Crete, looking out over Mirobello Bay and just a 15 minute stroll to the picturesque fishing village of Elounda.
Why we love this
The stunning array of accommodations here are second to none, with varying levels of luxury and design all well equipped to meet the needs of all guests. From a classic room with a sea view which sleeps two, waterfront bungalows with direct sea access from your own private platform, an island villa with a sea view and private pool to state of the art high-tech yachting villas with retractable televisions, electric sliding glass doors and ambassador bungalows with private gyms and an indoor outdoor private pool, which is a real wow! One of our favourite concepts is that you can have three rooms side by side that share a pool, so you can enjoy the privacy of your own accommodation whilst enjoying the outside space and pool as a family and or group. When entering your room for the first time, you will be greeted with beautiful fresh flowers and a sumptuous fruit basket (which is replenished daily) to enjoy and this comes as standard, a welcome and thoughtful addition as well as the Nespresso Coffee Machine.
Although the resort has a grown up elegance to it, they are will equipped for the younger members of your group should you be staying with children. With a supervised kids programme, playground and a wealth of water sports available. The Blue Flag beach is ideal for kids with shallow waters and lovely soft sand for those little tootsies. A little tip, there is a perfect beachfront two-bedroom bungalow sleeping six, where you could sit and watch the children play, it is well appointed with a secure gate which leads straight onto the beach.
The resort covers 120,000 sqm. Golf buggies are on hand to transport you around the hotel grounds all day, every day. It’s the little things that count… they take you around the back routes of the resort so not to disturb guests within the main areas. It is these considerate little touches that shows the resort really does have the guests comfort as a priority.
There are seven restaurants across both Elounda Beach Hotel and Villas and Elounda Bay Palace for you to choose from, giving you a dine around experience – from Mediterranean, Italian, modern Cretan, Japanese and Peruvian flavours. You won’t need to eat at the same restaurant twice, unless you want to. Our favourite has to be the award-winning Dionysos (quite possibly one of the best restaurants in Crete) – picture the most romantic courtyard setting, with twinkling lights, cobbled stone paving, beautiful olive trees and flowers intricately placed and the beautiful sound of song as you are serenaded while you eat. The food and service are delicious and impeccable, we were blown away by the exceptional quality and ambience of each restaurant making it as much an experience as a meal. If you are looking for a fine dining experience you won’t be disappointed.
The resort also boasts an impressive rooftop Chenot Spa which has generous views over the resort, and is the perfect place to relax and unwind. The spa promotes a holistic approach to wellbeing, complete relaxation and revitalising treatments. Upon arrival we were warmly greeted by the team of therapists who talked us through the various treatments available. We chose an hour long, full body massage, which was divine, no joint or muscle was left untouched, resulting in it being a fantastic massage and honestly was one of the best massages we have ever received and one we would highly recommend.
The Spa hosts several facilities as you would expect, a sauna, spa pool, beauty salon, treatment rooms and a rooftop outdoor pool, beautiful Balinese beds with tranquil sea views. Should you require any medical beauty treatments they have a qualified doctor to do these.
If you are looking for ultimate relaxation, let time slip away with a pure pampering experience, this will be one you are sure not to forget.
To summarise, this resort is an understated 5* gem in the most perfect location – if you are seeking a relaxing escape where you will be made to feel special, with attentive service and attention to detail then this is absolutely the resort for you. The staff are the heart of this beautiful resort and they do not miss a beat!” ~ Karen, Carrie, Amy & Josie

Explore Elounda
Elounda Town
Elounda is a pretty fishing village and you will love it if you are looking for a traditional Greek destination which isn’t to commercialised. The locals are extremely friendly, the streets are picturesque and the views across the bay are sensational.
The shopping, tavernas and boutiques or Elounda are very stylish however, the village does get busy during peak season.
Spinalonga Island
The island is a former leper colony. Sufferers from Crete and sometimes mainland Greece, were forcibly relocated to the island in an attempt to stop the spread of the disease. The leper colony closed in 1957, some years after a cure was found, so the island today is a popular excursion and one we would highly recommend.
You can now visit Spinalonga by taking a boat across from the main island. Boats leave regularly from Elounda harbour and take approximately 30 minutes to reach the boat dock at Spinalonga.
More recently, the novel ‘The Island’ has brought attention to Spinalonga Island, the small coastal hamlet of Plaka just 5km north of Elounda.
