From 18 October 2023, British Airways will be moving from a distance-based Avios earning model to a model that rewards customers based on their spending.

From this date, when an Executive Club member books a British Airways-marketed flight, they will earn Avios based on the price of their ticket instead of the distance flown.

Any tickets issued from this date will be awarded Avios for all qualifying spend on:

  • The base fare and any carrier-imposed charges
  • Cabin upgrades
  • Seats that you pre-book and pay for
  • Additional bags
