” If you’re dreaming of turquoise waters, endless sunshine, and a touch of luxury, let me introduce you to one of my favorite spots on the island: Long Beach Hotel, Mauritius. Nestled on the East Coast in Belle Mare, this 5-star beachfront resort is everything a tropical escape should be – and then some.
First Impressions
From the moment I arrived, I was struck by how modern yet laid-back the vibe was. Unlike the more traditional Mauritian resorts, Long Beach has a sleek, open design that blends effortlessly with its surroundings. The lobby alone is airy, with a view straight out to the ocean. You can literally see the waves from check-in!
The Beach – It Lives Up to the Name
One of the most impressive features? Long Beach has 1.3 kilometers of soft, white sand, making it one of the longest natural beaches on the island. It’s perfect for early morning walks or sunset lounging. The coral reef just offshore creates calm, swimmable waters – ideal for snorkelling or just floating your stress away.
Rooms with a View
The rooms are spacious, modern, and almost all offer stunning ocean views. I stayed in a junior suite with a terrace that opened right onto the garden path leading to the beach. Every morning, I woke up to the sound of waves and the smell of the sea – absolute bliss.
Food That Travels the World
Let’s talk food – because wow. Long Beach has five restaurants, and each one feels like its own little world. My favorite was Hasu, the Japanese restaurant with its sushi bar and robatayaki grill. Sapori does incredible Italian, and Tides is great for beachside seafood. Whether you’re into international flavours or local Creole tastes, you’ll eat very well here.
Activities for All
There’s no shortage of things to do. From kayaking and paddle-boarding to tennis and even archery ! Long Beach keeps you active if that’s your vibe. For golfers, the resort offers complimentary green fees at Ile aux Cerfs Golf Club, one of the most scenic courses in the world, accessible by boat.
Families are well looked after too, with both kids’ and teens’ clubs, so adults can sneak in a spa treatment or cocktail (or both!).

Long Beach is built on a former sugar cane estate – and the name pays tribute to its natural coastal expanse.
