Our wonderful Josie in our Leisure team has recently returned from a trip to the Hard Rock Hotel Tenerife, read on to find out what she thought.
October, the month where the clocks go back and Autumn fully sets in. It’s not my favourite month of the year, that’s why my other half and I decided to book a “Winter Sun” trip to Tenerife at the infamous Hard Rock Hotel in Tenerife.
I have not been to the Canary Islands before, but they always come highly recommended as an all year round destination. It’s not hard to see why the Canary Islands are one of the most popular holiday destinations for Brits. Flights go daily from most airports in the UK, and the flight time is around 4 hours and 30 minutes.
We flew with Easyjet from Gatwick, which was really easy considering all the forms and travel requirements. Since the travel rules changed in October, travel is now a lot smoother and heading in the right direction.
Upon arrival into Tenerife, we were met by the Taxi company and transferred over to the Hard Rock Hotel which is around 30 minuets from the airport. The HRH Is located in a lovely little town called Playa Paraiso which is about 10 minutes north of Costa Adeje. There are a handful of hotels in the town including the RUI, the H10 Atlantica and the Roca Nivaria. In addition to these, there are a few bars and restaurants and a new shopping complex with around 20 shops. Playa Paraiso is perfect for couples and families who like to be out of the hustle and bustle of the big towns, but still like to be able to go out in the evening.
The Hard Rock Hotel is a family friendly 5* resort which offers the “Rockstar Experience” As you walk into the lobby, you are greeted with one of Elton John’s Iconic feather outfits from the 80’s. Check in was really quick, and you could choose what kind of music you’d like in your room. You can have anything from Pop to Rock, we went for classic Rock.
We were booked into a Deluxe Gold Room which has amazing views of the Ocean and the Island of La Gomera. The Deluxe Gold room comes in either twin or double and has an extra pull-out sofa bed so great for couples and families.
Other room types available are the Rock Studios and Suites and the Rock Royalty rooms which come with the Rock lounge and a few extra benefits. Upon check in, the staff tell you to download the HRH Tenerife app, from here you can link your reservation and use this to add a vast array of things. First off, you can make dining reservations at the many restaurants on site. You can also make SPA reservations, order room service and mini bar packages and upgrade your stay. You can even arrange for some special in room benefits such as DJ Decks and Vinyls, or the choice of electric or acoustic guitars for you to “jam out” in your room.
There’s the main Sessions Buffet restaurant at the hotel which caters for breakfast, lunch and dinner. They have a wide variety of choice, and we found the menu changed each day. Along with the buffet, there are three A La Carte restaurants and the Beach Club restaurant. Motauk is their specialised Steak House. Capolavoro is the very popular Italian restaurant and Narumi is fine Asian dining. They also have the 3rd Half Sports bar and many other little bars dotted around the resort. Our favourite bar, The 16th is located at the top of the Nirvana tower and has beautiful cascading views of the island and surrounding bays. Reservations are required for some of the restaurants, but they are easy to make on the HRH Tenerife app or with the concierge staff.
The hotel has a wide range of pools to cater for all guests. There’s a sweet little kids splash pool and a kids pool on the main level of the hotel. By the Spa and the Nivarna tower, you’ll find a great Adult Only pool with a fantastic swim up bar. Wait staff here are great, and your never left without a drink in your hand.
Lastly, one of the best sellers of the resort is the beach club pool. This huge pool is right by the ocean has a great vibe with music playing all day and plenty of room to rest up on the loungers or the lovely day beds on the beach.
There is also a small water sports centre where you can hire kayaks or paddleboards as well as yoga, traditional sports such as football and tennis. So there is plenty of activities for the whole family to enjoy.
The Hotel has a great on-site Spa with a vast variety of treatments and services. They have a section called the Water Zone, it’s 20 euros per person and you get to enjoy the spa facilities for 90 minutes. The outdoor Spa Pool is heated and has a selection waterjets and heated loungers. Great for those wanting some downtime.
You can book a variety of attractions from the hotel, we booked to go to Siam Park and Loro Parque. We organised the transfers through the hotel and it was so quick and easy. Siam Park is a must do for all ages, it’s a great day out and voted one of the best water parks in the world.
Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the Hard Rock Hotel Tenerife and would definitely book to go back.
