Holidays in Rome

Where History Lives and Every Street Tells a Story

Few cities in the world blend ancient history with vibrant modern life quite like Rome. Known as the Eternal City, Rome has been captivating travellers for centuries with its iconic landmarks, rich culture, and irresistible charm. Whether it’s your first visit or your fifth, Rome always has something new to discover — from centuries-old ruins to cozy trattorias tucked away in cobblestone alleys.

At the heart of the city stands the Colosseum, a towering symbol of Rome’s imperial past. Just steps away, you’ll find the Roman Forum and Palatine Hill, where the echoes of ancient Rome come alive. And of course, no visit is complete without marveling at the Pantheon or tossing a coin into the Trevi Fountain — a tradition that promises your return to this unforgettable city.

But Rome isn’t just about the past. It’s a city of vibrant neighborhoods, each with its own personality. Stroll through Trastevere’s bohemian streets, sip espresso in the sun-drenched piazzas of Campo de’ Fiori, or explore Monti’s stylish boutiques and art galleries. Don’t forget to slow down and savour Rome’s world-famous cuisine — think fresh pasta, creamy gelato, and Roman-style pizza that locals swear by.

Rome is a city that invites you to wander, savour, and to be swept away by its beauty and spirit. Bookmark this page, share it with your fellow travellers, and get ready to fall in love with one of the most enchanting cities on earth.

On my Kirker Holidays trip to Rome, we had the pleasure of a private guided walking tour, and it was such a fantastic way to see the city. Our guide took us to all the best spots, stopping for coffee along the way and showing us Rome’s most iconic sights. The Trevi Fountain, for example, was far too busy during the day, so we visited it privately at night, seeing it lit up and almost empty was absolutely magical.

I stayed at The Russie, right at the bottom of the Spanish Steps. The location couldn’t have been more central, everything was within easy walking distance, making it so simple to explore the heart of Rome.

One of my favourite parts of the trip was simply wandering the streets and taking in the beauty of the city. From historic buildings and bustling piazzas to charming little side streets, Rome is full of hidden gems. I loved every minute of this trip and can’t wait to return, there’s still so much more to explore!”

“We arrived in sunny Rome at Fiumicino Airport, where immigration was smooth and luggage arrived quickly — a seamless start to the trip. Our transfer was effortless, and we were soon on our way to the elegant Regina Baglioni hotel. Although our rooms weren’t ready, we were warmly welcomed with coffee in the beautiful Art Deco lounge before heading out for lunch.

Lunch was hosted at the stunning Villa Spalletti Trivelli, a historic former private home with a true “home from home” feel. With just 17 rooms, peaceful lounges, a garden and rooftop hot tubs, it felt like a hidden oasis in the heart of Rome. We enjoyed a delicious Italian lunch before continuing with a guided walking tour through Rome’s iconic streets, piazzas and landmarks — including a very busy Trevi Fountain.

Back at the Regina Baglioni, we enjoyed a hotel presentation and later dinner, followed by a magical late-night walk through Rome. Seeing the Spanish Steps, the Colosseum and ancient sites glowing under the night sky, without the crowds, was unforgettable.

The following morning, we visited the Vatican Museums and Sistine Chapel. Despite the crowds, the experience was breathtaking, and Michelangelo’s frescoes were a true highlight — a reminder that Rome is a city you could return to again and again.”
