” During my recent trip to Athens, I had the pleasure of visiting Cape Sounio Grecotel Boutique Resort, and I have to say—it completely exceeded my expectations. Tucked away on the southern tip of the Attica peninsula, just over an hour from central Athens, this resort feels like a hidden gem where luxury, nature, and ancient history come together in perfect harmony.
First Impressions: Pure Serenity
The moment I arrived, I was struck by the peaceful atmosphere. Set among pine forests and looking directly out over the Aegean Sea, Cape Sounio feels worlds away from the city. It’s honestly one of the most unique hotel views I’ve ever seen—and a photographer’s dream at sunset.
The Property: Understated Elegance
Our site inspection took us through the lush, spacious grounds dotted with luxury bungalows and villas, many of which offer private pools and sea views. The design throughout the resort blends modern comfort with traditional Greek aesthetics—think earthy tones, natural stone, and large windows that let the outdoors in.
One thing I really appreciated was how the resort prioritises privacy and space. It feels exclusive without being pretentious, and there’s a lovely balance of family-friendly areas and more secluded spots for couples or solo travellers seeking quiet luxury.
