Luxury Holidays in Aruba

Luxury Holidays in Aruba

With pristine white sands that meet the sparkling turquoise sea and skies that seem to promise sunshine every day of the year, Aruba is the ultimate Caribbean escape. This idyllic island, affectionately known as “One Happy Island,” invites you to leave behind the ordinary and immerse yourself in a world of natural beauty, vibrant culture, and pure relaxation.

Adorned with Dutch-colonial charm, Aruba’s colourful capital, Oranjestad, enchants with its pastel façades, boutique shops, and bustling cafés where the aroma of fresh coffee and island spices lingers in the air. Beyond the city, dramatic desert landscapes dotted with cacti and rugged coastlines create a striking contrast to the island’s silky beaches, offering adventure at every turn. From exploring Arikok National Park to discovering hidden coves and natural pools, Aruba is an island that surprises as much as it delights.

The waters surrounding Aruba are a playground for snorkellers and divers, revealing coral reefs alive with tropical fish and shipwrecks steeped in history. Thrill-seekers can try kitesurfing and windsurfing in the steady trade winds, while those seeking serenity can simply sway in a beachside hammock, lulled by the sound of the waves. As the sun begins to set, the island transforms into a vibrant hub of music, dancing, and flavour. Indulge in freshly grilled seafood, sip a signature Aruba Ariba cocktail, and soak up the rhythms of live Caribbean beats that fill the warm night air.

Going into this trip, I’ll admit I didn’t know a great deal about Aruba. I knew it was a Dutch island in the Caribbean, famous for its gorgeous beaches, but beyond that, I wasn’t sure what to expect. What I discovered was so much more than I imagined – and I left with a new favourite Caribbean island, a phone full of photos, and a genuine excitement to start recommending Aruba holidays to our clients.

First Impressions of Aruba

Landing in Aruba, my first glimpse was of the busy area around the airport, where you’ll find American-style fast-food chains and a slightly more commercial feel than I had anticipated. But don’t let that fool you. As soon as you leave this small pocket, the island completely transforms. The true charm of Aruba shines through in its colourful streets, friendly people, and the relaxed island vibe that makes you feel instantly welcome.

Aruba vs. Other Caribbean Islands

I’ve travelled a little around the Caribbean before, including Cuba and Barbados. In Cuba, I loved vibrant Havana before heading to Varadero, though I found the beach resorts a little isolated. Barbados, meanwhile, is lively and activity-packed but can feel very busy. Aruba, however, struck the perfect balance. It’s accessible and easy to explore, but it also feels peaceful – never overcrowded, even on its most famous beaches.

Exploring Aruba’s Surprising Diversity

What really surprised me was just how diverse this little island is. In Oranjestad, you’ll find Dutch-colonial architecture, pastel-coloured buildings, and boutique shopping. Head south, though, and the landscape shifts dramatically. Suddenly, you’re surrounded by cacti, rugged coastline, and desert-like scenery that felt more like the Canary Islands than the Caribbean. This mix of city energy and natural wilderness makes Aruba unique – there’s always something new to discover.

Eagle Beach & Relaxed Luxury

Of course, I had to experience Eagle Beach, one of the most famous beaches in the world and to my surprise, it was virtually empty during the day. The sand is soft and powdery, the sea calm and turquoise, and it’s absolutely perfect for swimming, even for families with young children. We spent time capturing content here, but also relaxing like our customers would with a cocktail in hand and the sun on our skin. At JOIA Iberostar, drinks were delivered straight to our loungers, adding a little extra touch of indulgence that I know our clients will love.

Sailing, Sunshine & Dining

My favourite experience of the trip? Without a doubt, the sailing excursion. Being out on the water, surrounded by that incredible natural beauty, was the highlight of my visit. But the food scene comes a very close second. Aruba spoils you for choice, with hotel restaurants and local dining offering everything from fresh seafood to international flavours. Every meal felt like an occasion, and it’s clear that foodies will be in heaven here.

Why Aruba Stands Out

Aruba has quickly become my favourite Caribbean island. It’s safe, welcoming, and full of variety offering both adventure and relaxation, culture and natural beauty. Whether you’re a couple looking for romance, a family after safe beaches, or simply someone in search of Caribbean sunshine all year round, Aruba ticks every box.

I left feeling completely in love with the island and already planning a return. More importantly, I left with the confidence to share this incredible destination with our clients, knowing it will offer them the same mix of relaxation, adventure, and pure joy that it gave me. Aruba really is “One Happy Island” and now I understand why.
