Itinerary

Fly from LHR to Calgary. Arrive into Calgary and shuttle transfer to Banff.

At leisure to explore Banff. Maybe don your hiking boots or hire a bike and make the most of the great outdoors. Marvel at impossibly blue glacial lakes, admire the soaring mountains or perhaps head to the geothermally heated Banff Hot Springs for some relaxation and rejuvenation. Be sure to also allow time for a ride on the Banff Gondola to the summit of Sulphur Mountain, where the views of six mountains ranges and the sweep of Bow Valley are laid out before you.

Another day to enjoy Banff independently. Alternatively, optional full day tours are available to the Columbia Icefield, which starts with a visit to spectacular Lake Louise before travelling up the world famous Icefields Parkway. At the Columbia Icefield board an Ice Explorer which takes you onto the surface of the ancient Athabasca Glacier before returning to Banff.

Shuttle transfer from Banff to Jasper. On arrival enjoy the late afternoon at leisure exploring the town of Jasper.

At leisure to explore the magnificent Jasper National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Enjoy activities such as hiking and mountain biking, take a ride on the Jasper Skytram for jaw-dropping views at the summit.

Shuttle transfers from Jasper hotel to board the Rocky Mountaineer train early morning, travelling in SilverLeaf Service to Kamloops, located in the heart of the British Columbia Interior. Enjoy the dramatic surroundings and every scenery of the Continental Divide and the river valleys of the Monashee and Cariboo Mountains. Breakfast and lunch will be served onboard. Highlights include Mount Robson, Pyramid Falls, the climb over Yellowhead Pass, and the journey along the North Thompson River as you approach Kamloops. Arrive in Kamloops and spend the evening exploring the town or relaxing in your hotel.

Board the Rocky Mountaineer train early morning. This journey offers sweeping panoramic views and dramatic changes in scenery, from the desert-like environment of the Interior, through winding river canyons and pristine forests, to the Coast and Cascade Mountains and the lush green fields of the Fraser Valley. Breakfast and lunch will be served onboard. Highlights include the steep slopes and sheds along the Thompson River and the rushing waters of Hell’s Gate in the Fraser Canyon. Arrive in Vancouver in the evening and shuttle transfer from the train to your hotel.

A full day free for you to explore this wonderful city. You might want to do some shopping on Robson Street, relax in Vancouver’s playground, Stanley Park or stroll through the markets of Granville Island. If you prefer to explore the outdoors, take a gondola ride to the summit of Grouse Mountain or head to the nearby Capilano Suspension Bridge.

Further time to explore Vancouver or opt to join an optional full day Whistler Mountain and Adventure tour (additional expense), exploring the Sea-to-Sky Highway on your way to Whistler Village. Marvel at the second largest granite monolith in the world as you travel amidst the 2133-metre- high majestic peaks of the Coastal Mountains. Stops en route include Shannon Falls – the third highest waterfall in British Columbia, several viewpoints to take in the glaciers and glacier fjord (Britannia Beach) and admission to the Squamish Lil’wat Cultural Centre and Museum, before returning to Vancouver.

Arguably one of the world’s greatest cruising routes, the fabled Inside Passage stretches through stunning landscapes, from Misty Fjords National Monument to Glacier Bay National Park & Preserve. Watch for iconic wildlife, such as humpback whales and orca as they ply the bountiful waters alongside the ship, bald eagles soaring overhead or brown bears lumbering on the shoreline.

Arrive Juneau early afternoon which is surrounded by water, forest and mountain sights. This sleepy, misty city has a frontier town vibe and is a pleasant place to stroll around. The real highlight of a visit to Juneau however, is tracking down some wildlife and a variety of optional excursions are available.

At the height of the Klondike Gold Rush, Skagway was the primary gateway to the legendary gold fields and quickly grew into Alaska’s largest settlement. At every turn, you’ll find yourself immersed in gold rush lore, from the Red Onion Saloon to the White Pass & Yukon narrow-gauge railway. Perhaps take a free walking tour around the historic district, home to a rich collection of galleries, shops and restaurants.

This World Heritage Site is the crown jewel of southeastern Alaska’s natural wonders, with more actively calving tidewater glaciers than anywhere else in the world. Stand on deck and watch for vast chunks of ice as they split off a glacier and thunder into the sea.

Clutching the shores of the Tongass Narrows, Ketchikan has long been an important hub for salmon fishing and is also one of the best spots along the Inside Passage to explore the cultural sights of Native Alaskan nations like Tlingit, Haida and Tsimshian. Don’t miss historic Creek Street, the Tongass Historical Museum, Totem Bright State Park and Saxman Village.

Another chance to soak up the stunning scenery.
