Why we love Australia

“Living in Sydney was a dream come true. The sparkling harbour, golden beaches, and the endless hum of city life created a perfect balance of excitement and relaxation. I spent my weekdays working in the heart of the city, grabbing my morning coffee in a bustling laneway café before weaving through the streets lined with street performers and corporate high-flyers. My weekends, however, were all about embracing Sydney’s laid-back beach culture. Whether it was catching a sunrise at Bondi, watching surfers conquer the waves at Manly, or heading to a coastal national park in search of secluded swimming spots, life in Sydney had a rhythm that was both energising and effortless. And, of course, I had my fair share of encounters with the local wildlife—nothing quite beats the thrill of spotting kangaroos lazing under the gum trees during a bushwalk or feeding them at a wildlife park.

But as much as I adored Sydney, I knew I had to see more of Australia. So when the opportunity arose to take time off and travel, I jumped at it. Trading city life for adventure, I set out to explore the country’s vast and varied landscapes. One of the most unforgettable stops was Alice Springs, a gateway to Australia’s rugged Red Centre. From there, I made the pilgrimage to Uluru, watching in awe as the rock transformed in colour under the setting sun. It was a humbling experience—standing before this sacred monolith, listening to the Dreamtime stories that have been passed down for generations. The contrast between my old life in Sydney and the deep, untouched beauty of the Outback was striking, and it made me fall in love with Australia all over again. Whether lounging on a beach or trekking through the desert, this country has a way of making you feel completely free, and I wouldn’t trade that experience for anything.” ~ Katie

“Exploring Australia’s East Coast was a journey filled with breathtaking landscapes, thrilling adventures, and incredible wildlife encounters. Starting in Cairns, I dove into the Great Barrier Reef—an unforgettable underwater world teeming with vibrant marine life. From there, I visited the stunning Milla Milla Falls before heading to Mission Beach, where I took the ultimate leap—skydiving over the coastline, an experience as exhilarating as it was surreal.

Sailing through the Whitsundays was like stepping into paradise, with Whitehaven Beach’s pristine silica sand and turquoise waters. On K’gari (Fraser Island), I navigated sandy 4×4 trails and marveled at the night sky, untouched by light pollution. Magnetic Island brought a magical moment—spotting wild koalas in their natural habitat—followed by an inspiring visit to the legendary Australia Zoo, where Steve Irwin’s conservation legacy lives on.

My adventure ended in Brisbane, a city buzzing with energy, rooftop bars, and riverside charm. This trip was just a glimpse of what Australia has to offer, but from the reef to the rainforests, every moment was unforgettable. The country’s beauty, wildlife, and laid-back lifestyle have left me longing for more.” ~ Steph

“My adventure in Western Australia began in Perth, a vibrant city where urban charm meets stunning natural beauty. With its laid-back atmosphere, world-class beaches, and scenic parks, Perth felt like the perfect blend of city life and outdoor adventure. Strolling along the Swan River, exploring the buzzing cafés of Fremantle, and watching the sunset over Cottesloe Beach made for an unforgettable introduction to the west coast.

From there, I ventured to Margaret River, a region that completely stole my heart. Known for its rolling vineyards, rugged coastline, and world-renowned wineries, it was easily my favourite place in Australia. The landscapes were breathtaking, with lush forests, hidden caves, and stunning surf beaches around every turn. My journey continued at Caversham Wildlife Park, where I had the chance to get up close with Australia’s incredible wildlife. Feeding kangaroos and meeting friendly wallabies was a dream come true, making for the perfect end to an unforgettable West Coast experience.” ~ Amy
