” If you’re looking for an island getaway that feels like stepping into a postcard, you have to experience Anantara Koh Yao Yai. My stay here was hands down one of the most magical stays I’ve ever had. Tucked away on the tranquil island of Koh Yao Yai, this resort is the definition of a tropical paradise—peaceful, luxurious, and a little off the beaten path.

Getting There: The Start of the Adventure

The adventure begins before you even arrive. The only way to reach Anantara Koh Yao Yai is by boat, which gives you this amazing sense of exclusivity. I took a speedboat from Phuket, and honestly, the ride itself is an experience—cruising across the shimmering blue waters of Phang Nga Bay, passing by limestone karsts that rise dramatically out of the sea. By the time you step onto the island, you already feel like you’ve left the real world behind and entered your own private paradise.

The Resort: Where Luxury Meets Nature

What struck me right away about this resort is how seamlessly it blends into the natural beauty of the island. The resort is surrounded by lush greenery, pristine beaches, and towering palm trees. Every corner of Anantara Koh Yao Yai feels peaceful and private, like the island was made just for you.

The villas, oh my gosh—the villas! I stayed in one with a private pool, and let me tell you, it was a dream. Waking up in the morning, stepping out to your own infinity pool overlooking the ocean, with nothing but the sound of the waves… it’s the kind of luxury that’s hard to put into words. The villas are designed with modern elegance but with a traditional Thai twist—beautiful wooden accents, high ceilings, and huge glass windows that let you soak in the incredible views all day long.

The Beach: Your Own Slice of Heaven

The beach at Anantara Koh Yao Yai is pristine. It’s not crowded like the more touristy spots in Phuket. Instead, you get this peaceful stretch of white sand, clear water, and swaying palm trees. Whether you want to sunbathe, take a swim, or just relax with a good book (which I did plenty of!), the beach here is perfect. And, if you’re feeling adventurous, you can grab a kayak or paddleboard to explore the coastline from the water.

Amazing Facilities: Relax, Rejuvenate, Repeat

This resort has everything you need to switch off and completely unwind. I spent one morning at the spa, and it was heavenly. The treatments are done in open-air pavilions, so you’re getting a massage while listening to the sounds of the island—birds chirping, the breeze through the trees, and the gentle crash of waves. It’s pure relaxation. I also loved their yoga sessions on the beach.
